Why Journalism?

This, ladies and gentlemen, is my first YouTube video uploaded last November 16, 2021. Titled Why Journalism?, it is made for a school project, I talked about why I chose Journalism and why I want to be a Journalist.

It asks not the viewer but me. The question is simple but my answer is not. In the 2-minute video, I explained only a little because the video is really intended to be an assignment.

I decided to upload it publicly because I want tell you WHY, and also because I am proud of my editing on the video so I had the guts to show it.

The video has good quality though. I only had to deal with the noise. You will hear chickens in the background.

If I can’t say it all in the presentation, then I’ll just write it. And so we begin, as you all know I have been a campus journalist for 5 years, writing is the only thing I’m good at. So why not be a Journalist?

I didn’t always want to be a Journalist, I had many dream jobs. Like to be a pilot, I’m sure we’ve all been asked what we want to be when we grow up. But now it’s clear, I know what I want to be and what path to take.

What can help me

HUMSS it is. Next year, I will expect to graduate and at the same time, enter Senior High School. What strand you may ask? – Humanities and Social Sciences. HUMSS is what future Lawyers, Politicians, Police, Journalists, and others take.

I found that out after I attended a Career Caravan/Webinar by USL. It was a fun discussion featuring Grade 10 Students. I even got to act in a mini-commercial in the opening.

In HUMSS, I’ll expect more writing than usual. It is composed of subjects like Creative Writing, Philippine Politics and Government, and Oral Communication.

I know this is for me. This is what I want to do. I am 100% sure it will help me in College (why am I even talking about college). I don’t want to overthink the future. No one knows what will happen tomorrow. But I need to be prepared somehow.

And I’d rather write all day than solve math that I don’t understand. No offense, but it’s just not for me. WRITING IS MY CUP OF TEA.

The Journey Starts Here. Mark my word, I will be a Journalist. This website is proof that I can do it. I don’t say this with pride, but I am shouting it with faith. I hope I can keep my promise because this journey is not just for me but for my family too.

They are the reason I am doing this and my inspiration everyday, other than the fact that I have not yet posted in the past 19 days of November. Oh yes! This is my first blog post of the month. I know, I’m lazy please don’t judge me.

Only 20 uploads to go until our 100th Blog Post. Expect me to post old articles because why not?

Let's talk about the blog and why it matters

This blog site has only been active for 10 months, and I wish I can grow it in the coming years. I don’t want to rush marketing my blog because I can’t manage it while studying, although online.

I want to focus on this in the right time, it might not be today, tomorrow or the day after it, but I know when I can, I will do it myself.

Investing time and money. I always talk about how I want to upgrade this website. I don’t have the money, but I do have patience (and time). Again, in the right time. Seriously though, money does buy happiness.

This website matters in every way. I made it not knowing where it will end up. And I am sure glad, it didn’t just sit in the internet after my 1st blog post.

Written in my About page is a sentence, and it is written like this: "I joined WordPress to enhance my skills in writing and communicating online".

It did mean something all this time. I had a reason after all. And it doesn’t apply just for my blog now. I need to repurpose it.
